DoorDash has agreed to pay $300 million for Wonder’s Grubhub Campus Dining business, a service that connects students with campus dining facilities and restaurants. The transaction covers the campus operation, not the whole Grubhub marketplace.
The companies announced the agreement September 15, alongside a separate $125 million DoorDash investment in Wonder. They expect the acquisition to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory review and other customary conditions.
Campus Dining, formerly Tapingo, operates at more than 450 colleges and universities, according to the joint announcement. Students can use an app or kiosks to order, pay with campus dining dollars and arrange pickup.
DoorDash says it intends to expand the business after closing and eventually take its technology into venues such as stadiums and hotels. The announcement describes those as growth plans; it does not identify a set of new venue contracts.

The campus business gives DoorDash a route into a distinct ordering environment. Students use institution-linked payment balances, restaurants work around class schedules, and pickup can be as important as delivery. Making those systems work together is a different task from simply adding another restaurant to a delivery app.
Wonder’s funding provides the other side of the partnership. In July, the company announced a $650 million Series D round at a $9 billion pre-money valuation. It said the financing would support location growth and investment in kitchen robotics, artificial intelligence and its marketplace. DoorDash’s additional investment links the companies financially as the campus unit prepares for a change in ownership.
For universities and participating restaurants, the next milestone is closing. The companies have outlined the direction of the business, but the announcement does not establish campus-specific migration dates, changes to restaurant terms or a new student ordering process. Those details will matter more to day-to-day operations as the transaction moves forward.
