Taco Bell and PepsiCo have renewed their U.S. partnership for 11 years, carrying the relationship through 2036 and keeping PepsiCo beverages at participating Taco Bell, Taco Bell Cantina and Live Más Cafe locations. PepsiCo will also continue as Taco Bell's beverage partner in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Thailand.

The agreement is wider than a fountain contract. PepsiCo and Taco Bell say their next phase will emphasize crafted, functional and energy beverages, with a particular focus on products intended to create new morning and afternoon occasions. The companies did not announce financial terms, minimum purchase commitments or an exclusive-product calendar.

For Taco Bell, the strategic asset is not simply access to Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, Mountain Dew and Starry. It is the product-development machinery behind exclusives such as Mountain Dew Baja Blast and Baja Midnight, plus snack-based menu collaborations such as Doritos Locos Tacos.

Baja Blast is the proof of concept. PepsiCo says the drink has become a billion-dollar brand after beginning as a restaurant collaboration. The partners have continued to extend it through limited-time products including gelato and pie. Doritos Locos Tacos will reach its 15th anniversary in 2027, and the companies say new flavors are planned.

That history gives the renewal a useful restaurant-business angle. A beverage supplier can function as a co-innovation partner, providing consumer research, formulation, manufacturing and marketing reach. Taco Bell supplies a high-frequency restaurant platform and a brand comfortable with limited-time experimentation. The upside is a product that can begin as an in-restaurant exclusive and later grow into a broader retail franchise.

The renewed scope also includes Taco Bell's newer formats. The official announcement specifically names participating Cantina and Live Más Cafe locations in the United States. That matters because the beverage opportunity differs by format: a standard quick-service restaurant, a social Cantina and a beverage-led cafe do not need the same menu architecture or daypart strategy.

PepsiCo says the companies have already worked together on Refrescas, which it describes as a premium beverage platform, and on a growing range of crafted and functional drinks. The announcement says future energy offerings are meant to appeal to Gen Z consumers and unlock morning and afternoon demand. It does not identify products, prices, launch dates or participating markets.

The international agreement is similarly precise about geography but not rollout details. PepsiCo will remain the beverage partner in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Thailand, with localized innovation and market-specific programs. The release does not say that every Taco Bell in those countries participates, and Braisepoint is not inferring a unit count.

The deal comes at a moment when beverage alignment across large restaurant systems is moving. That broader context can make the renewal look defensive, but Taco Bell's situation is distinct because Baja Blast and Doritos Locos Tacos are jointly built platforms rather than interchangeable supply items. Replacing the relationship would mean disrupting assets that both partners helped create.

For operators, the takeaway is that the best supplier agreements can be designed around demand creation, not only procurement. The measurable questions will come later: whether functional and energy beverages lift non-dinner traffic, whether Live Más Cafe concepts accelerate development, and whether international markets produce local products with the same staying power as Baja Blast.

Until the companies publish that evidence, the verified news is an 11-year extension through 2036, continued service in five countries and an explicit development focus on crafted, functional and energy beverages. Financial and operational commitments remain undisclosed.
