Restaurants using Toast have a new option for connecting automated drive-thru ordering to the systems already running their kitchens.
Presto Phoenix announced Sept. 21 that it had joined the Toast Partner Ecosystem. The integration connects Presto’s voice AI with Toast’s point-of-sale and kitchen workflow, with emerging and midsize restaurant chains among the customers the company is targeting. Presto’s announcement
That connection matters because taking an order is only one part of the transaction. The right items and modifiers also need to reach the kitchen without creating another task for employees.
Presto describes multiple operating modes for its technology, including supervised service with ongoing agent oversight and configurations in which agents step in when needed. Its product materials also describe menu management and connections with existing drive-thru hardware. Those are vendor descriptions, not independent performance findings. For an operator evaluating the integration, the useful questions are specific: Can it handle substitutions, unavailable items and a customer changing an order halfway through? How does an employee take over? What happens when the connection fails? And does the resulting kitchen ticket match what the customer actually requested?
The announcement does not establish a universal installation price or a guaranteed return on investment. A restaurant would need its own proposal and operating results to judge the economics. Presto’s announcement
A sensible pilot would compare order errors, service time and employee interventions during comparable shifts. Those measurements would say more about the fit than a demonstration built around straightforward orders.
Joining Toast’s ecosystem makes Presto another option for restaurants evaluating drive-thru automation. Whether it improves a particular restaurant’s operation remains a question for that restaurant’s actual customers, menu and crew.
