IHOP has brought Stuffed French Toast back to participating U.S. restaurants, using a familiar breakfast item to give longtime customers a reason to return and newer guests something different to try.

The menu item returned September 14 in Strawberry Vanilla and Blueberry Vanilla versions, according to IHOP’s announcement. Each serving includes two sweet-cream-filled triangles dipped in vanilla-cinnamon batter and griddled, with the chosen fruit topping and vanilla sauce.

IHOP calls Stuffed French Toast its most-requested menu item on social media. That is the company’s description of customer demand, rather than an independently measured ranking.

The chain last served the item in 2020, IHOP president Lawrence Kim told Restaurant Dive. He described a development process that began about a year ago and included a specific request from fans: more cream filling. Kim said the company worked with its supplier on an injection process to spread the filling more consistently through the toast.

The return is technically a limited-time offer, Kim told the publication, although IHOP hopes to extend it if customer response supports doing so. Diners should therefore check availability locally rather than assume the item will remain indefinitely.

The launch also fits IHOP’s broader focus on breakfast. The company says about three-quarters of its orders center on breakfast foods, making a recognizable French toast item relevant beyond the morning rush.

The business appeal is straightforward: a returning favorite carries a story customers already recognize. The challenge is delivering the experience they remember while making the updated product work consistently in restaurants. Nostalgia can prompt a first visit; execution and perceived value will influence whether guests order it again.

IHOP has not announced a single nationwide price in its release. Guests should consult their local restaurant’s menu for pricing, participation and the available variations.
